BILL KLEM IN HOSPITAL ST. LOUIS, Mo., June 24.— Bill Klem, National League veteran umpire and dean of major league arbiters, is in St. Johns Hospital, in St. Louis, where he is to undergo an operation for hernia. Klem was resting fairly well today, it was said at the hospital.
