GRUBER S FIRST WINNER CRETE, 111., June 24.— When apprentice Walter Gruber, 18-year-old Chicago boy, piloted Master Time to victory in the eighth race at Lincoln Fields Friday, he entered the winners circle for the first time in his brief riding career. Gruber, who rides at 103 pounds, has had comparatively only a few mounts, but he did an excellent job with Master Time, which "took an early lead and never was headed. Gruber is under contract to Walter Haljean, and having found his way home in front once, will find his services more in demand. — ■
