FAIR TIME raced to the lead in the opening strides, met determined early contention from OPEN BOOK, withstood a bold bid from DREEL, drew clear, came out into the better going through the stretch and held sway to the close. DREEL was under slight reserve while in pursuit of the pace, was forced to Ine ground when moving up in the stretch, moved up on the outside and was carried out when attempting to overtake the leader. A claim of foul against FAIR TIME was allowed. JESSIE V. L. moved up gradually and held on willinglv through the stretch .although unable to threaten the first two. OCLEARY closed some -round. TOW ROPE, at home in the going, gained a slight lead when straightening out in the back stretch, met dflu milled opposition from LOYICK. disposed of him, drew into a good lead, met a bold bid from TOBACCO nearinc the stretch and drew out steadily in the last three-sixteenths. TOBACCO, on the extreme outside around the first turn in search of the better going, moved up gradually, seemed ready to go to the front nearing the stretch, but gave way steadily to the winner through the stretch run. STABLE, taken back of the pace until leaving the back stretch, moved up gradually during the last three-eighths and finished willingly. OLD MAID came wide into the stretch and finished willingly. LOVICK saved ground throughout and tired from his early efforts of forcing the pace. UVALDE was unable to reach the leaders. HIGH END faltered after going three quarters. FIVE FIVE raced into contention with a rush on the outside after leaving the back stretch, went to the front when AIR ACTRESS began tiring and, kept under pressure for the remainder of the way, was clear at the end. BABY LAMB, well placed and hard ridden throughout, held on determinedly to the close. GLORIOUS TIME, vigorously ridden from the start, did not start to improve her speed until the last five-sixteenths and finished with eood energy. O.NTSAC, slow as usual to begin, moved through on the inside entering the stretch and closed willingly, although down in the deeper going. AIR ACTRESS displayed good speed in the going, but cave way steadily through the stretch. DARK PALATINE was unable to gain a forward position. ECOPAN had brief early speed. PETER ARGO. prominent throughout, raced into a slight lead when reaching the back stretch, increased his advantage steadily, drew away into a long lead and won as if much the best. LOVEDAY, a trailer early, circled her field leaving the back stretch and held on stubbornly through the stretch. ACE CALL, in the deeper going throughout and hard ridden, came stoutly under punishment in the final drive to be along in the closing strides to wear down HOLTON. The latter, well piaced from the start, tired during the final quarter mile. BONNY IMP trailed for most of the trip and was unable to close an appreciable amount of ground when placed under punishment. TIME BEATER tired. TOP QUEEN was unable to keep up. POMPOON, taken under slight restraint soon after the start, was taken to the outside when Machine; the bark strct h. then moved up gradually, althouch never in a position to menace the winner. DOS was well placed from the start and, under hard urging, came to the extreme outside when reaching the stretch, then, responding gamely to hard uiL-ing, was along in the last sixteenth to outlast SKIN DEEP at the end. SKIN DEEP, quickest to begin, opened up a good lead and, vigorously ridden through the stretch, held on gamely. JOHNNIE J., away slowly and outpaced early, raced into contention with a rush, went to the front moving up on the inside of the leaders entering the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage under punishment. GALA QUEST, last out of the stalls, was rushed up fat. but swerved when midway through the back stretch. DODGER unseated his rider on the way to the post, was away slowly, sent up fast to eain a forward position, but tired from his early eflorts and was unable to close any cround durine the stretch drive. HALCYON BOY tired. SMART BETS bandace became loose and interfered with ABRASION and EXARCH when leaving the back stretch, then was being eased up leaving the back stretch. GHOST QUEEN was prominent all the way, gained a slijht lead midway thrcueh the back stretch and held on stubbornly to the close. PANORASCOPE. well placed and slightly reserved early, held on with good energy to the end. TICCOLO, a trailer until swinging from the back stretch, closed a eood gap and was eoine w.llinclv at the end. DOROTHY ROCK showed a flash of speed during the early Running, then tired. GALLOPING moved up to gain a slieht lead when reaching the back stretch, made a determined bid to eo along with the winner when challenged, was not good enough and was tiring .-ill through the last eighth. BLACKMAIL made up some eround. but was unable to reach the leaders. TURKISH BRAND closed with good speed through the stretch after having trailed for most of the way. DIAN was outrun. MOON HARVEST tired badly. Overweight — Dian. 2 pounds. Apprentice allowance waived — Galloping, Mocn Harvest.
