Michigan Notes PAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 29. J. Graham Brown, Louisville boniface and breeder, stopped off at Detroit on Monday to renew acquaintances while en route from the Republican convention in Philadelphia, where he was a delegate. Brown plans to leave tonight for Chicago where he has a stable of horses in charge of trainer Tom Hill. Apprentice Peter Gifford returned from a trip to New York, where he went to meet his mother on her arrival from England. Gifford came to this country as a refugee and remained to become one of the best developments turned out by the Jockey School conducted by the Detroit Racing Association. R. H. Raines, trainer of Mrs. Lottie Wolfs stable, sent Head Sea and Broad Margin to the Lexington Stud, near Versailles, Ky., to be turned out for the summer. Jockey A. McKlemurry was an arrival from Chicago and accepted the mount on C. Williamsons Ted Char In Tuesdays first race. Douglas M. Davis, Kentucky breeder, who. operates the High Hope Farm near Lexington, Ky., is a Detroit visitor, accompanied by his son, Johnny. Joe W. Morrow, track superintendent at Hialeah race track, was an arrival in the Motor City, and is the guest of trainer A. G. Wilson. Morrow expects to remain here for three or four days before returning to start work on improvements to the clubhouse and grandstand at Hialeah. R. J. Fischers nine-year-old gelding, Yukon, who finished second to Hall and Fetzers My Boy Tom in Saturdays Ascot Gold Cup, a test of two miles, was returned from Ascot Park, near Akron, Ohio, to Detroit. Jockey William Badgett, who had the mount on Yukon, also returned from the Rubber City track. J. T. Pegg arrived with Silver Fire, Capt. Absolute, Comcatchme and No Peekin from Omaha, Nebr. The four race in the colors of Mr. and Mrs. John Nissing.
