J., " May 8.— Eight shifty sprinters will take the a a spotlight here tomorrow in the six-furlong to Reading Purse. Anyone of several could de- ei velop the winner, but the favorite will be bf decided from between John L. McKnights b Buster and D. G. Neumans Woodford h her ce This pair gave battle in a sprint last g£ week, in which the first four horses arrived hi the finish within the span of a long neck. Mr. Buster finished second and Wood- in Sir, fourth, but there was only inches co between them. Both will carry the same ie weight tomorrow, as they did on the former th this occasion, and it will take a master handi- m capper to attempt to separate them on pe paper. at at Woodland Farms Picture Card, who oc- in in casionally invaded the stake ranks last fo year, was obviously short for his first effort se the current season about 10 days ago, wl he, in particular, could be a dangerous at at rival. Grandview Stables Up Beat, who set pace into the final furlong before fin- ev ishing third to Pensava and previously fin- Bi ished third to Istan and Eagle Eye, also tu deserves consideration. hL his Mrs. C. A. Copes Bolo Mack is not too th the dependable but he finished a bang-up sec- sti to Energetic in his only local appear- tai and will be well suited to this type of en a a to ei bf b h her ce g£ hi in co ie th this m pe at at in in fo se wl at at ev Bi tu hL his th the sti tai en race. Spats, racing for Mrs. Tilyou Christopher, has not been too impressive lately either, but he has been matched against better company. Of the other two, Cary C. Boshamers Carolina Miss will be making initial start this year and will not receive very much attention, and Joe Gave-ganos Blue Lantern appears placed too high. Mr. Buster, a six-year-old horse by Shifting Sands II., has the speed to be always in contention and appears the most solid selection. He was a winner of his first race year at Laurel and then may not have liked the sloppy track over which he competed while well beaten in his next outing that course. The McKnight racer turned a particularly game effort here, being forced to turn back several stout challenges setting the pace up to the last strides, where Larry A. saved ground to catch him the wire. Woodford Sir lacked early speed in this event, but was urged forwardly to join Mr. Buster and the first flight midway the turns. The War Dog six-year-old, who won, last race at Gulfstream Park, appeared probable winner* turning into the stretch, but he had lost considerable distance on the outside and then hung in the crucial test.
