Feller, Tribe Hurling Ace# Scalded in Whirlpool Bath CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 8 UP.— Bob Feller, dean of the Cleveland Indians pitching staff, was scalded by boiling water today in a whirlpool bath at Municipal Stadium. Feller, the Tribes leading pitcher so far this year, was preparing to soak an ailing back in the whirlpool tank when he inadvertently stepped into the boiling water. Team physician Dr. Don Kelly, who was nearby, quickly helped him from the tank. Dr. Kelly said the pitcher had suffered first and second degree burns on the lower torso and legs but they were not serious. Feller, who has a 3-0 record, came down with what is believed to be sciatica last week-end, and missed a pitching turn. He was due to return to action next week, and Dr. Kelly said the burns "probably" would heal by the time his back ailment cleared up.
