WINTER LAND showed good speed to assume command soon after the start, disposed of HELEN MAISEL entering the stretch and drew clear to win easily. HELEN MAISEL displayed good speed to duel for the lead and held the others safe while no match *for the winner. CARYS HOPE was unable to keep up while on the inside early, but continued on fairly well. DAINTY STAR lacked a menacing rally. PLAYFUL LADY raced evenly. AVID could not reach contention. WILLIAMSBURG, away tardily and a sluggish during the early running, was taken outside for the stretch run and wore down the faltering GINOWAY. The latter held a commanding lead to the late stretch and quit badly despite continued urging. TATTOOED LADY made up ground while retaining her position in the running. HO EIGHT raced in the runner-up position «to the stretch and weakened. THRONE dropped back after the start and raced evenly. GAME DAME failed to threaten. GUIENETTE was through early. H. was cautiously handled while racing with the pace, disposed of BROAD CROSS in the early stretch and withstood the bid of TACARO. The latter was in a bit close leaving the backstretch, rallied well when clear, but could not overtake the top one. MARCION was always formidably placed and continued on well. ILLUSTRATION lacked a closing rally. BROAD CROSS raced with the pace for five furlongs and quit. WARMOUD was through early. FENTY 0. was never a factor. JOLIRAB flattened out badly. ORIOLE, unhurried while in close attendance to the pace, responded to pressure through the stretch and gained the nod over ODE. The latter, under steadying restraint while in a bit close early, was forced to take the overland route when opening failed to develop, then responded to good urging and just missed. MAHOON, away tardily and much used to assume command along the inside in the opening quarter, saved ground on the turn and, after drawing clear, weakened ; in the final test. KING MOWLEE pressed the swift pace and faltered. FINEST HOUR II. failed to reach contention. BLACK AND BLUE was outrun. Overwegiht— King Mowlee, 2 pounds; Finest Hour II., 3. BABS WHEY, not too far off the pace while trailing through the first mile, responded well to good urging and wore down the leaders to gain a narrow decision. CHERWELL, always formidable while fencing well, moved to the leader nearing the final fence, was taken up slightly, then drove between his two rivals and just missed. BOOM BOOM displaced the leader after a mile, held sway to the final strides and gave way. WEATHER DECK set the pace for more than a mile and weakened. SYRACUSE LAD raced forwardly, weakened and bobbled at the thirteenth jump. GOOSE BAYS rider regained his irons immediately after having lost them at the fifth jump. MISS PRESIDENT sprinted to the front at once, was strongly rated and held on tenaciously to win over SILVER FLUSH. The latter was unable to keep up early, was carried out by QUIZ SONG and responded to late pressure to be wearing down the winner. PSYCHIC DREAM raced forwardly placed, but lacked a closing bid. QUIZ SONG, a factor to the stretch, raced wide and was bumped by SILVER FLUSH. SATIN SLIPPER was outrun, as was WIN MY WAY. CARDINAL LADY broke tardily. VINNIE bled profusely. The latter moved well when roused on the final turn, lodged a challenge in the early stretch, but was not good enough. KENSINGTON LAD raced prominently and continued on gamely.
