Del Mar Cards Eight Stakes For Meeting Opening July 24 DEL MAR, Calif., June 26.— Headed by the fourth running of the Del Mar Futurity and the inaugural of the Del Mar Debutante, the stakes and purse program for the twelfth summer season opening here July 24, was announced today by general manager Webb A. Everett. The seaside course will offer eight stakes for the 40-day session, beginning with the ,500 Oceanside Handicap on July 28 and closing with the Futurity on September 8. A daily purse distribution of 7,500, exclusive of stakes, has also been approved by the California Horse Racing Board. This is an increase in awards of 10 per cent over last year Minimum purses at Del Mar will be ,000. Complete list of stakes follows: July 28 — Oceanside Handicap, ,500, three-year-olds, six furlongs. August 4 — Bing Crosby Handicap, ,500, three-year-olds and upward, six furlongs. August 11 — La Jolla Handicap, 0,000, three-year-olds, one mile. August 18 — San Diego Handicap, 0,000, three -year-olds and upward, one and one-sixteenth miles. August 25— Del Mar Derby, 5,000, three-year-olds, one and one-eighth miles. September 1— Debutante Stakes, 0,000, two-year-old fillies, six furlongs. Estimated gross, 5,000. September 3— Del Mar Handicap, 5,-000, three -year-olds and upward, one and one-eighth miles. September 8 — Del Mar Futurity, 5,000, two-year-olds, six furlongs. Estimated gross, 8,000.
