Oreo Sold for 0,000 At Belmont Paddock Sale Jack A. Rrice Acquires Gelding; Also Pays 0,000 for Daiquari BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 5. — A total of 40 horses were sold at public auction through the salesring set up in the clubhouse parking area here this morning. Another vendue of horses in training is scheduled for tomorrow. It will be featured by the dispersal sale of horses owned by the late Peter A. Markey and numerous other consignors are listed. The sale conducted by Fasig-Tipton Company, was highlighted this morning by the 0,000 bid Jack A. Price made to acquire Jack L. Friedmans stakes winning three -year-old gelding, Oreo. This son of Bull Dandy — Bus Girl brought the highest offer of the opening morning session. Price, of Cleveland, Ohio,, and a comparative newcomer to the thoroughbred sport, also tendered the next highest bid when paying 0,000 for Daiquari, a six-year-old gelded son of Eight Thirty — Miss Brief and consigned by Mrs. Widener Wichfeld. Price, who was accompanied by his wife and trainer Clarence Reynolds, also purchased Miriams Boy for ,700. The Cleveland industrialist, who races, under the name of Dorchester Farm, stated the trio will be shipped from here to Randall Park, near Cleveland. He has a string of 10 horses at Randall now being readied for a summer campaign. A total of 1,900 was bid for an average of ,047. Following is the resume of the sale: Horse.
