Ten Slated to Match Speed in Ascot Event Dark Buckle, Merry Maestro and Down Town to Attract Attention By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, June 5. — Although the eight-race card for tomorrow is dedicated entirely to platers of one type or other, it brings together in each event, the most consistent in that particular bracket. The seventh race is customarily the feature and in this spot racing secretary B. H. Held .has set an affair for four-year-old and older ,000 performers. The distance is six. and one-half furlongs and it has a 00 purse. The 10 drawn on the overnight entiries include L. P. Kilvingtons Rickey Boy, Hall 8c Petzers Swans Cadet, Mrs. M. Pauls Dark Buckle, J. Thornburgs Down Town, S. A. Cooperr Jr.s Abbe Fun. R. Mans-bargers Reckonwith, Tom McCartys Ruths Vacation, the Dorchester Farms Blessette, R. H. Burnetts Merry Maestro and Mrs. F. J. Wiles Dream Moon. This field is extremely difficult to separate to determine a logical choice. Dark Buckle,, for one, has been improving steadily in her efforts, and while going with some of the best at the recently-concluded Cranwood Park meeting. In her last she finished second to Mrs. N. Ferraras Wise Advisor, who turned in two consecutive victories in the best sort of allowance company. That, too, was at six and one-half furlongs, and the winners time was just three-fifths of a second off the track record. A return to that form would make her a dangerous candidate for the major por-. tion of this purse. Merry Maestro has been racing somewhat over his head in recent outings. However, while going" with ,500 and ,000 company early in the Cranwood meeting, he was a two and three-quarters of a length ivinner over A. T. Taylors Sea Level. The Wrack of Gold colt negotiated the seven furlongs in 1:29% over a strip that was. classified as fast, but which had been dug up considerably as a result of the resurfacing. Down Town is another who cannot be overlooked. The Man About Town gelding won two races at Cranwood while going with ,250 and ,500 platers, respectively, and will defiintely have his work cut out for him to garner even a minor award in this group. There are two distance races carded, the sixth and eighth. Both have a mile and one-sixteenth setting, and the latter has the most impressive field of the two. The A and H Stables Block to Block has four sets of brackets to his credit in six starts at Cranwood. He was out of the money but once, scoring a second in his other outing. His most recent victory was at the same mile and one-sixteenth distance amid the same class of contestants. It is quite possible that the Psychic Bid gelding and jockey Stanley Austin will again make their presence felt in this group, which include Perion, Son Lee, Happy Twist, Music Miss, Main Bet, Jade Lad, All for One, Better Yet, Schoharie, and Oyster K. is the one on the eligible list.
