Den-Cal Out to Capture Third Straight Victory Faces Dear Lillian, Rarediction, Teddys Toy Again at River Downs By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 5. — Three-year-olds hold the spotlight in tomorrows feature, the Beau Brummel Purse, at the six-furlong distance. Ten sophomores, including most *of the aspirants for later stake engagements, will battle for the title of "most fashionable" and the major portion of the ,100 purse. Continued fair weather and a fast track are on tap. Heading the list of the entrants is Mrs. M. C. Eckerts Dexv-Cal, fresh from two victories in a row, the latest here at River . Downs on opening day. In that score the son of Blue Pair — Quenna galloped to an easy, six-length victory over three of the contestants in tomorrows field and he had previously beaten two of the other contenders in his Beulah win. The pursuers of Den-Cal, who will try again in the Beau Brummel are Char-Mar Farms Rarediction, Mrs. G. P. Posts Teddys Toy and Murray Hill Farms Dear. Lillian. The last mentioned miss receives a six-pound weight shift in her favor from her second to the Eckert colt, but she still has a battle on her hands to reverse the decision. The field is completed by C. Rauschs Ocean Comet, E. Sorbers Ferol S., C. Meschers Big Pa, Miss A. Hines In A Breeze, Alexander and Schencks Betje and C. Brown, Jr., Sonny Brown. Ocean Comet, also a victor at the River Downs, meeting, is stepping up from the claiming ranks in an attempt to earn more lucrative starting assignments. The Beau Brummel may decide the fate of this one for a good effort would encourage owner Rausch to point his charge for the coming stake races. Ferol S. was a winner of his last Beulah Park start and has an outside chance to upset the calculations. Big Pa, In A Breeze and Sonny Brown are strangers from the outlands who have not been too successful this year. The last mentioned was a two-time winner last season, but remains an unknown quantity this year. The remainder of the contestants have shown little this year or last to recommend their chances in tomorrows sprint.
