BLACK BOY began fast, but dropped back and raced on the outside to the stretch, responded to punishment during the drive and was up to dispose of HEARTS BUZZ in the last strides. The latter gradually worked way forward, reached the lead between calls near the finish, but could not hold the winner, just missing. HAPPY QUEEN went to the front early, entered the stretch with a good lead, but faltered during the last sixteenth. SLITHEREEN, next to the inner rail and in the deepest going throughout, tired after showing early speed. NICELY NICELY began slowly. MASTERWIND disliked the muddy track. CHERRY STONE raced poorly in the soft going. LOST PENNY could not keep up after beginning alertly. SATTERLEY had brief speed, but failed to stay. Scratched— 852472 Putt Putt, 113. JACK TAR, in hand and saving ground to the stretch, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and, closing strongly, disposed of MAGIC CHOICE and held SIX-THREE-FOUR safe. SIX-THREE-FOUR, outrun to the last three-eighths mile, drifted to the outside entering the stretch and closed fast when straightened for the drive, but could not overtake the winner. MAGIC CHOICE went into an early lead, set the pace to the last eighth, then faltered when challenged by JACK TAR. WARKIE lacked early speed and could not reach the leaders whn set down through the stretch. ALDENSON tired after displaying early speed. SOOCRU raced well to the stretch, then gave way. Overweight— Magic Choice, 1 pound; Darkie, 2. Attendance, 8,000 Estimated; Total Mutuel Pool, 43,797.
