JERRYS GEM took command at once, established a good lead before entering the stretch, but was vigorously ridden during the late stages to retain a clear margin over JANES PRIDE. The latter lacked early speed, responded readily when set down in the drive, but could not reach the top one. GOV BROWNING, outrun to the stretch, finished well under urging. VALOR LASS raced evenly without mishap. TRIP NORTH disliked the muddy track. MIKE REARDON tired after racing well to the stretch. ADMIRALSCRIPT made a mild bid at the stretch turn, then weakened. TREETOP saved ground from the outset, assumed command in the stretch after disposing of MERRY SIZZLE, then held on gamely to withstand MICHIGAN KID. The latter, in the middle of the track from the start, responded to punishment during the stretch run and closed fast, but could not overtake the top one, although much the best of the others. GAY TEN, forwardly placed throughout, faltered during the last sixteenth. U. S. KNIGHT made up ground during the drive MERRY SIZZLE took an early lead, set the pace until inside the stretch, but gave way when challenged by TREETOP LUCKY SKIPPER had early speed, but failed to stay. CONNIE-JO was outrun. EASTER WINGS began fast, raced with MERRY SIZZLE to the stretch, but had nothing left for the drive. ROYAL BONES disliked the mud. MR. DUDE showed nothing. The latter, a keen factor from the start, reached the lead when settled for the drive but was unable to stay with the winner, although much the best of the others. MIBELAIRE lacked early speed and could not get to the leaders when set down through the stretch. PRETTY TRICK was unable to keep up after displaying early speed. ARPEGE took an early lead, set the pace for three-quarters mile, then gave way. SO FAIR, in the deepest going throughout, was never dangerous. LADY MIDAS showed nothing.
