Destroy Two Singapore Racers After They Collapse in Races SINGAPORE, China, May 23 Reuters. — Two race horses collapsed after running in separate races at the Singapore Turf Clubs summer meeting today and had to be destroyed. The club ordered an inquiry but an official said this evening. "There is no reason at this stage to suspect foul play." One horse. News Reel, owned by the Shaw Brothers of Singapore, collapsed after running into fifth place in the first race. The second horse. Gular, owned by Dr. E. Laidlaw Thompson and Mr. T. V. Mitchell of Singapore, collapsed after being unplaced in the fifth race. Another horse. Raffles, collapsed in his stall after the running of the first race and is now undergoing veterinary treatment. Mr. K. A. Ross, assistant veterinary officer said there is no question of foul play. It is no more than a coincidence that two horses had to be destroyed on the same day.
