River Downs to Honor Two Neighboring States Schedule Kentucky Day June 18 And Indiana Day Week Later CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 23.— The four leading features of the 16 on the racing calendar of the River Downs meeting, opening Friday, June 5, and continuing through Saturday, July 25, are having their fourth running this season. These are the 5,000 River Downs Championship on closing day, Saturday, Junly 25; the 0,000 Marathon on Saturday, July 18; the ,500 Queen City Handicap Saturday, June 27, and the ,500 Cincinnati Classic on Saturday, July 11. Twelve other established events are on the Downs program, augmented by the addition of a-Kentucky Day feature to be run Thursdayr June 18, and an Indiana Day feature, Thursday, June 25. The latter two events have been added this year as tributes to the citizens of two or Ohios neighbors. Many stable owners from Kentucky and Indiana race their horses at River Downs every year and the Kentucky Day and Indiana Day features will be featured by horses from those states being entered in their respective features. A special trophy will be presented to the owner of the horse winning the Kentucky Day and Indiana Day races. Its also the plan of the River Downs management to have dignitaries from each state make the presentations. The entire feature-race program at River Downs will total more than 0,000 this year and will set an all-time high for Southern Ohio racing, as will the more than 35,000 total purse distribution.
