Good Field of Routers To Contest Tomasello Golden Gloves and Grover 6. Expected From Camden for Race SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston. Mass., May 23. — The best distance field of the current New England season is eligible to go to the post for the sixteenth running of the 0,000 Tomasello Memorial Handicap which will top a big Memorial Day card here this coming Saturday afternoon. There have been 24 nominations for the mile and a furlong feature. Among the nominees are Belair Studs Golden Gloves and T. P. Morgans Grover B. Both these handicap stars are now at Garden State and it seems a virtual certainty that they will be sent on for this stake. Golden Gloves, winner of the 0,000 Valley Forge Handicap at Garden State a week ago Saturday, is at peak form. That four-year-old Isolater colt has been in the money five of his nine starts this year and has a big race at Gulfstream Park which was run on March 7. On that date Battlefield beat Golden Gloves by a head over a mile and an eighth in the Appleton Handicap. Grover B. will be making his second trip to the Downs. He was shipped here for the Plymouth Rock on May 2 and ran away from his field over an "off" track. The gelded son of Blue Swords could be tough to beat if he has his kind of a race track. These two prospective invaders will have to down the best of the local handicap stars who have all been entered for this old established Suffolk Downs stake. Proven campaigners such as Larry Ellis, Little Step. Shell Diver and Futuresque, could give the two invaders a battle all the way. Then theres W. J. Beatties imported Good Shot. He has won three out of four sprint starts at the Downs and this race may provide the answer as to his ability to travel a route. He showed little in his first two distance races but has improved greatly since then. The nominees for the Tamasello are: Golden Gloves, Good Shot, Shadows Start, Tio Ciro, Little Lucky, Harpes. Grandma Josie, Blue Dare. Little Imp, Easy Whirl, Larry Ellis, Regal, Grover B., Uncle Edgar, Little Step, Shell Diver, Futuresque, Andre, Army Pal, Ocean Breeze, Sun Rene, Caldwell, Sailed Away and Villager.
