DIAMOND MORAN gained gradually on INACCESSIBLE after leavig the backstretch and, taking a short lead after entering the final furlong, held sway to the end to win under urging. INACCESSIBLE went to the front early and set the pace under steady rating, then responded well when challenged, but was in the worst part of the track on the inside in the last sixteenth. COPPER PLATE closed some ground, but failed to threaten. SNORKEL was going fairly well at the end. REPARTEE failed to threaten for the leadership and tired. THE BARRISTER III. had some early speed. I FROO gained gradually while saving ground and, catching JIMMYS DOLL entering the last sixteenth, drew out to win with speed to spare. The latter took command in the stretch when PAR BOY bled, but was no match for the winner. SWEET FREEDOM was always a fairly good contender, but never threatened for domination. SPIRIT AWAY was always closest to the leader and, going steadily, was never in serious danger of losing second place. BARSHOE was in third position for virtually the entire trip. DIANE B. was hard ridden through the stretch to best FREE FOR ME narrowly. FREE FOR ME dropped back after breaking well, then moved up entering the stretch, but bore out badly in the final eighth. COMPANY B. was always close to the pace, and after battling it out with HOOP RING through the stretch, drew away from the latter near the end. The latter had good speed from the start and held on with good courage in the final drive. PRACTICAL was outrun to the stretch, then came steadily to best the others. THUNDERBIRD acted badly at the gate, delaying the start for many minutes, then dropped back after breaking well, moved up on the inside after entering the stretch, then bore out at midstretch, but was straightened out and finished gamely. SIR GALLANT was within striking distance in the early running and met with slight interference in the stretch. BRAZEN STEP was wide in the stretch. BLACK INVADER tired. DICKS FUTURE unseated his rider before the start, then was in close quarters after the start, but raced up strongly nearing the stretch turn and, bothered when THUNDERBIRD bore out in the stretch, dropped out of it. LOCAL CLOVER WAS SCRATCHED WHEN HIS PAPERS WERE FOUND NOT TO CONFORM TO HIS MARKING AND MONEY WAGERED ON HIM WAS REFUNDED. Scratched— Local Clover, 117. SEVENTH RACE 5 FURLONGS. EVERETT JR. was within striking distance of WEE PAYOFF in the first quarter, then moved with authority to easily take command rounding the stretch turn and drew out thereafter to finish far in front. MR. PROSECUTOR seemed to be bothered soon after the start and dropped out of contention to be outrun to the stretch, then came strongly to best the others. 0SYSTEM was always a forward factor, but did not seem to be a match for the first two. TUOSIX raced in fairly creditable fashion through the stretch. APPLIABLE had some early speed. WEE PAYOFF tired badly after going three-eighths. The others seemed overmatched. THAXTER improved his position in the run down the backstretch to reach prominence nearing the stretch turn, then came strongly to catch SPY DEFENSE and held PLATAN under hand riding. PLATAN moved gradually after entering the stretch, but displayed a tendency to lug in and was unable to get to the winner although finishing well. SPY DEFENSE was rated closest to CHL GUSHER while the latter was making the pace, then made a timely move to take command, but faltered in the final drive. ACE DESTROYER, outrun early, was in close quarters nearing the stretch turn while making a move, then came to the outside to finish fairly well. SET SHOT displayed good speed for six furlongs.
