37 Jersey-Born Riders OCEANPORT, N. J., May 23.— New Jersey is the birthplace, by actual count, of 37 jockeys currently active on the American racing scene. Best known of the Garden State reinsmen is Jimmy Stout, born in Lakewood, and Bobby Permane, whose birthplace was at Camden. Stout will be seen in action during the coming Monmouth Park meeting, June 13-August 10, while Permane, now sidelined with injuries suffered in a recent spill, may don silks later in the season. Bobbys feat of riding five winners on three consecutive days in 1944 at Tropical Park remains one of the outstanding saddle records of modern times.
