STOP AND LOOK never was far back and was under steadying restraint, closed willingly from the outside when roused in the final three-sixteenths and bested IGNITE while drifting over toward that rival. IGNITE raced within easy striking distance, came * around contention to reach the front inside the last furlong, then held on determinedly while being forced to the inside by the winner. ELIAS G., unable to stay with WONDERFUL YOU on the turn, headed that one when set down in the stretch, but weakened under the pressure. WONDERFUL YOU was alertly handled to show the most speed into the stretch and faltered. LADSLOVE was not a threat. COBBER was outrun, then was ridden out to a mile and appeared to sulk under punishment. CORFEL quit Scratched— 86739 Piping Arms, 104. JERRYS BEST, alertly handled to gain a clear early lead, was unhurried when displaced after five furlongs, then responded to vigorous punishment and came again to take the decision. HIGH TREND was steadily urged to reach the front, could not draw clear and weakened slightly at the end. LITTLE GREG rapidly made up ground down the backstretch, appeared ready to take command from the outside in the drive and hung. BLUE DANUBE rallied gradually under punishment in the stretch. GREY ARROW displayed speed without need of urging, but faltered. BIG THUMB was outrun. BRIAN BORU gave a dull effort. Overweight— Little Greg, 1 pound. Big Thumb claimed by A. Cannuli and S. Moore.
