FLICKA STAR was immediately placed under pressure to improve her position, challenged from the outside in the stretch and drifted very wide while drawing away in the final stages. BLACK AND BLUE improved position between horses, had to be steadied trying to lug in in midstretch, then finished willingly. SECOND LOOK bobbled at the break, recovered to race with the first flight and open a clear lead in the stretch, then faltered suddenly in the last eighth. BIG DAN finished well without being a serious menace. TITANS MATCH could not outsprint SECOND LOOK on the turn and quit. PLAY FIDDLE faltered. MAH HEAVENS easily assumed command when ready after a half-mile and, after establishing a clear margin, lasted to stave off MONMOUTH. The latter raced into a striking position early, gradually gained ground through the early stretch, then closed fast when punished in the last sixteenth. NANCHANG held a forward position by saving ground and finished well. HAPPY VICTOR raced into contention from the outside and lacked a closing rally. PREFECT was urged to open a clear lead down the backstretch and weakened when challenged. BLAZING was outrun. TOP COMMAND was not a factor. BEA MARONY raced just behind the first flight, crowded SKY WORLD into the rail forcing passage at the five-sixteenths marker, then continued gamely and drew clear. She was disqualified for impeding SKY WORLD and placed last. MILLDALE raced into contention on the turn, strongly challenged BEA MARONY in the stretch, but weakened slightly. LIBERTY LUCK apparently propped leaving the gate, began several lengths behind the field, then circled extremely wide in the drive and finished fastest of all. GALA MORN had speed to the stretch and quit. DING DING was under pressure setting the pace and quit. WARMED OVER could not keep up after the Start. BLEU FEATURE raced on the outside and faltered. WHATUDUIN was outrun. SEA ADMIRAL was blocked midway on the turn. SKY WORLD was racing strongly when sloughed by BEA MARONY on the turn, almost fell and dropped out of it. The latter could not shake free of RE-SHUFFLE until inside the stretch, then did not have enough left to resist the winner. MRS. G. R. saved ground and loomed boldly m the early stretch, then hung. DUC DE FER broke alertly from his outside position, failed in an attempt to reach the front rounding the far turn, was intermittently urged thereafter to remain close to the pace and finished resolutely to narrowly best the opposition. FULL FLIGHT lacked speed away from the gate, began to race forwardly reaching the far turn, remained outside the field and closed with steady determination to just miss. ILLTAKEM clashed between horses after the start to take command entering the turn, opened a clear lead and continued evenly into the last sixteenth, then weakened. MARTYR -never was far back and finished willingly. MIELAISON, away slowly and in hand racing behind horses at the far turn, wended forwardly thereafter and finished well. WAR POINTER was a sharp contender into the stretch and weakened. SAM BROOK was outrun. OPERA LIGHT displayed good early speed and stopped. NOBLE RISK was not a threat. TAXPAYER showed nothing. STARECASE outbroke the field, was lightly steadied when displaced by HYPHASIS. attempted to come again when punished in the drive, but hung. CANDLE WOOD saved ground, loomed boldly in the stretch run, but lacked courage at the end. CLOSED DOOR came from far back, lugged in behind the leaders and had to be taken out mid-stretch, then finished gamely. HIRAM JR. saved ground and closed a gap.
