Say Briggs Syndicate .Would Purchase Tigers DETROIT, Mich., UP, Aug. 25. The Detroit Times said today a syndicate headed by Walter O. "Spike" Briggs is being formed to buy the Detroit Tigers baseball club from the Briggs estate. The Times story, which could not be confirmed immediately, said Briggs associates in the venture are D: Lyle Fyfe and Ray Whyte, both directors of the Detroit Lions professional football team. Briggs recently resigned his position with Briggs Manufacturing Co. to devote full time to the baseball club as president. The club presently is owned in equal Shares by the late Walter O; Briggs Sr.s widow, Spike and his four sisters.
