i I I ! j Ironclad Seeking Third Straight Hamilton Win Goes After Bucket Inn Purse os He Meets Crazette, Four Others By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent HAMILTON, Ohio, Aug. 25. Earl Daniels Ironclad, the uncrowned champion of Hamilton, Avill be out to annex his third triumph of the meeting on Wednesday as he meets W. Gamesters My Boy Bill, Mrs. L. R. Benshoffs Lady Santo, Mrs. F. ; Flowers Crazette, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Max-! wells Oklahoma Kid and Ida Dillons Griffo. This seven-furlong allowance test-will honor the Bucket Inn of near-by Hamilton, which annually sponsors a race at the Fair Grounds and hosts the riders, trainers, valets and officials of the Hamilton meeting afterwards in an afternoon of good feeling and sportsmanship. The purse aa festivities have come to be regarded as the high spot sport in Hamilton. Ironclad has dominated his opponents in both starts at this meeting, the Inaugural Purse and the Charles N. Hayes Purse, both at the seven-furlong distance. The six-year-old son of Best Seller Miss Sugar defeated Lady Santo and Crazette in those races while racing in slightly better than 1 : 27 for the abbreviated seven panels both times. .Ironclad must pick up 120 pounds in the Bucket Inn, which is his biggest package thus far, but the gelding has not yet been sorely pressed, which indicates that the weight will be no hindrance. Roy Head will again handle the Daniels gelding as he has in both triumphs. Crazette has had two chances to test Ironclad, but failed in both tries. There are some quarters here that think th Kansas Pretty Pal matron needed to gei. acclimated to the Hamilton turns and will perform much better now that she has rad two trips over the course. The only other threat to Ironclad might come from Oklahoma Kid, who will be making his first start locally. Oklahoma Kid was a sensation of the early River Downs meeting, winning three races, but then tailing off and showing poor form. ! Trainer Maxwell has freshened his charge j for almost a month now and this might j I bring the son of Alfred the Great Courtly Lady back to his early season form. An interesting comparison might be gained from the preceding race on the program, which sees Bustacle meeting a field of eight at five furlongs. This mare and Ironclad must meet later on in the meeting for the honors and a line of comparison can i i be struck to evaluate their merits.
