Seven Horses Line Up For Evansville Purse Newspaper Topweight and Likely Favorite for Dade Park Sprint By J. J. IIAHN Staff Correspondent DADE PARK, Henderson, Ky., Aug. 25. "Wednesday will be the nineteenth day of the current 29-day meeting of the Dade Park Jockey Club and fans who take in the mid-week sport may witness one of the most exciting races of the season. Racing secretary L. H. Van Zandt has arranged an evenly balanced card for Wednesday, featured by the Evansville Purse, a six-furlong dash for three-year-olds and upward, as well as a two-year-old allowance affair at five furlongs in which some of the better juveniles housed here are entered. The Evansville appears to be one of the toughest of the season and in this seven-horse field are Newspaper, On Rust, Storm of Gold, Dark Desert, Gerties Last and the entry of Prissy Boy and Easter Wings. Under the conditions, Newspaper gets top weight of 117 pounds. After giving a smashing performance on opening day when he lost a nose decision to Mad Saint the horse came back a week later and gave a dull performance, but made amends for that showing on August 17 when the nine-year-old gelded son of Discovery hung it on a strong field in a mile race. None entered in Wednesdays feature were in the race won by Newspaper so no comparisons can be made. Gerties Last, winner of her last two starts, is next at 115 while Prissy Boy, one who has not raced to expectations, is next at 112. Easter Wings, On Rust, Storm of Gold and Dark Desert drew the same weights of 110 pounds. Easter Wings made one start here and dead-heated for top honors with Blue Galahad, while On Rust, the probable public choice, copped a heat since the opening. Storm of Gold has been consistent, in addition to winning the early part of the season, has been third on two other occasions. Dark Desert won the last time out, but beat cheaper ones in the Wednesday feature.
