JIFFY broke alertly, remained forwardly placed under light restraint to the final turn, came outside of the leader to assume command and drew clear under pressure. DESERT WITCH drew clear at once, saved ground, but was no match for the winner. SEVEN PILLARS showed an even effort. NINE GEES rushed boldly to gain a forward position and went evenly thereafter. BANOVINA closed stoutly on the outside. OMEN was going well at the end. LADY EDWINA had no mishap. OCEAN COMET was outrun. ANDANTINO broke alertly, dropped back after a furlong and showed nothing. AWAY, forwardly placed under steadying restraint to the final quarter mile, moved readily when set down, assumed command inside the final furlong and drew clear. CALDWELL broke alertly, was taken back off the pace and reserved until the stretch, came between horses, but was not good enough. KNIGHTS REWARD forced the pace from the start and held on tenaciously. RUSH PRINCE drew clear early, was unable to shake off KNIGHTS REWARD and weakened in the drive. SHELL DIVER, never far off the pace and saving ground, lacked a late rally. LARAN, allow to drop off the pace and steadied for a half mile, began to work his way up on the inside, but failed to respond in the late stages. The others were outrun.
