Cubs Spank Dodgers to Tune of 1 3-4 Pound Out 15 Hits In Routing Champs . Hal Jeffcoat Leads Attack With Two Homers; Lown Gets Credit for Win; Loes Loser By CARL LUNDQUIST United Press Spbrts Writer BROOKLYN, N. Y., Aug. 26. The Chicago Cubs avenged past indignities suffered at Ebbets field this season when they pounded out 15 hits, including three homers to beat the Dodgers 13 to 4 todays It "was Brooklyns worst home defeat of the season and only Chicagos second win at Brooklyn against eight defeats. In addition to two home runs by Hal Jeffcoat, who had hit only two others previously this year, Bill Serena blasted a two-run homer and the Cubs also "took advantage of six walks. They climaxed their assault against the Dodgers with a six-run eighth inning attack which featured the Serena homer and a two-run triple by Randy Jackson. Chicago Takes 1-0 Lead Chicago took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and made it 2-0 in the second on Jeff-coats first homer. Billy Loes was batted out for the seventh straight time in a starting assignment in the fourth inning when Chicago made four more runs, three on Jeff-. coats second homer. Bob Milliken, who relieved Loes, was the victim of the Jeffcoat second homer and Erv Palica, who took over in the fifth, was saddled with the entire six-run eighth inning rally when the Cubs batted around. Turk Lown was the winning pitcher in relief - for Bubba Church, gaining his seventh victory. He was touched for only one run, a homer by catcher Rube Walker in the eighth inning.
