WHITLEATHER, a sharp factor from the start, responded readily when set down through the stretch and disposed of BROAD CROSS in the last sixteenth. BROAD CROSS took command at once, set the pace until inside the stretch but could not hold the top one, although easily best of the others. NOBILITY attempted to bear out during the run down the back-, stretch, recovered under good handling but could not better his position when set down for the drive. MR. DINK was outrun. The latter, away sluggishly and outrun to the last quarter mile, closed fast under punishment, but could not overtake WELL MET, although much the best of the others. BLEN SAND began fast, set the pace for three-eighths mile, then faltered when challenged by WELL MET. THANK YOU SIR lacked early speed. JOLISAM could not keep up.
