NIPPERSJNK appeared to take an early lead, settled in the stretch with a good advantage but was briskly ridden during* the final furldhg and won going away. SUMMER BLUES, well placed entering the stretch, closed willingly but could not get to the top one. TOKEN TUNE began fast and then held on well in a good effort. SYRIAN GIRL appeared to race evenly. SIRS PRIDE was tiring during the last eighth mile. ANNJOWETT drifted out during the drive. SAUCEY AIRE began slowly. The race was contested during a heavy rainstorm and R was impossible to distinguish horses and silks at the three-eights mile markers. HERES JAKE, a sharp factor from the start, raced BRIAR MAN into defeat entering the stretch, then responded to strong handling and held FRANCOLIN safe. The latter gradually worked way forward while saving ground, closed resolutely but could not overtake the top one, although much the best of the others. GAME PRINCE finished fairly well when set down in the drive. BUSY BETTY tired after showing early speed. ERRARDS BOY raced well to the final furlong, then weakened. FUMEUR lacked early foot and was forced wide entering the stretch. BRIAR MAN, away sluggishly, was hustled to the front before going a quarter mile, made the pace to the stretch, then gave way. FRIED GAL showed little. DUM DUM raced wide during the stretch run. YONA BARU was never dangerous. KING JOE raced far back the entire trip. SO QUICK disliked the sloppy track. The latter raced well from the outset, established a good lead after entering the stretch but was unable to withstand the top one. LADY NORM lacked early foot but finished fairly well under punishment. E Z EYE, outrun to the stretch, could not threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. COFFEE MAKER, taken up when caught in close quarters after the break, failed to recover. OATRY began fast, made the pace for a half-mile, then weakened. STAR ACTOR had early speed but failed to stay.
