Topweighted Foes for Final i Sportsmans Feature Facing Streaking and Timely Tip By J. J. MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 13. — Marion Van Bergs Knights Reward, winner of two major races at this meet-v ing, the Spring Handicap, at seven fur-s longs, and the Sportsmans Park Handicap, at one and one-sixteenth miles, will be one of the top-weighted horses in the 0,000 Thomas D. Nash Memorial Handicap, clos-5. ing day feature at this half-mile course. Knights Reward will carry 118, a burden also to be borne by Deb Chaser, beaten a nose by the VanBerg runner in their last meeting. Each has a stablemate entered, Black Bantam is also owned by Van Berg, and En Fleur by Armer and Nail, owners of Deb Chaser. Both Black Bantam and En Fleur are on the also eligible list. Deb Chaser Gets Weight Shift Deb Chaser has a three-pound weight advantage over Knights Reward from their meeting in the Sportsmans Park Handicap last Saturday, and the distance of one and one-sixteenth miles is the same. In that affair Deb Chaser was on the pace throughout and just failed to last, while Knights Reward came from behind and raced wide in the stretch. Jockey Ronnie Baldwin, leading rider at the meeting, will again handle Knights Reward, and it is probable that Bennie Green, who is pressing Baldwin for the riding honors, will once again ride Deb Chaser. Another coupling in the Saturday head- Continjed on Page Thirteen Thomas D.NashMemorial Final Sportsmans Feature Knights Reward and Deb Chaser Renew Their Keen Rivalry Today Continued from Page One liner is that of Heredity and Nickies Boy, who have been named to bear the silks of Wallace Strong. Nickies Boy is on the also eligible list. Heredity was recently purchased from W. H. Bishop, who will have Equal Strife in the race. Nickies Boy was a recent winner. A racer who may come in for considerable support is Timely Tip, who was favored over Knights Reward and Deb Chaser in the last week-end feature and who finished third, missing by but two scant noses. Timely Tip, who picks up one pound from that race, is owned by A. L. Birch and will again be ridden by Paul Ward. Others looming as strong contenders are Streaking, William Schmidts seven-year-old, who has won seven of his last eight starts, including a pair here; Clover Leaf Farms King, winner of the Illinois Owners Handicap last year and unplaced last Saturday; and Smokelore, who will carry the silks of the Chicago -owned Reverie Knoll Stable for the first time at this track. Others entered are Bettys Beauty, Mr. Dink, and Bookworm. The Thomas D. Nash Memorial is named in honor of one of Chicagos most prominent attorneys and civic leaders who passed away last month, and will come seventh on the nine-race getaway day bill. First post time will be 1 : 45 p. m. and officials of the National Jockey Club anticipate the largest crowd of the season.
