Robinson Benched; Denies Low Bat Mark Responsible MILWAUKEE, Wis., May 13 UP.— Brooklyn Dodgers manager Walter Alston and third baseman Jackie Robinson said today they had talked things over and agreed that Robinson should be benched. Robinson denied reports that he had asked to be sidelined because of his .244 batting average. He said merely "we talked things over." "Hes the boss," Robinson said. "Im not mad about it — if it will help the ball club — and I think it will." In another Dodger development, shortstop Pee Wee Reese said he had asked second base umpire Lee Ballanf ant last night if Milwaukee Braves infielders Danny OConnell and Johnny Logan were violating any rules. Reese said OConnell was running across the infield when Gil Hodges was at bat and that Logan was waving his arms when Duke Snider was at the plate. "Ballanf ant gave me the craziest answer I ever heard," Reese said. "He said OGon-nell was only doing it when "Gene" Conley pitched a curve ball."
