NIGHT INTRUDER, off forwardly, took a short lead after-leaving the backstretch and, going in good form, increased his margin in the last furlong to win easily. MADEIRA displayed good early speed and went fairly well to the end. MANY FAULTS was in tight quarters nearing the stretch turn and was required to ease, then came tp the inside in the stretch to close with good courage. KING 0 SWORDS raced steadily through the stretch. KEY DERO dashed up on the outside soon after the start, but faltered In the final drive. DEAD RINGER was never a threat. NO RETURN headed the field early and widened nearing the stretch turn, then saved ground to hold on well. SMOKELORE was outrun early, but finished fast. MAKE READY was slow to get in stride, but came very fast after going a half-mile, and gaining steadily on MUNCHAUSEN in the last furlong, outfinished him in the drive. MUNCHAUSEN, well rated back of CHARLIES GEM in the first half-mile, passed the latter when ready to open up and carried his weight gamely to the end. BLUE LEM lacked early, speed and trailed for half the distance, but came strongly through the stretch and_ was goining on the first two. STYRUNNER weakened in the last eighth. SUMMER SOLSTICE was slow to begin, but moved up on the inside nearing the far turn to obtain a forward position, then came to the outside on CORPICK in the stretch and although bearing out slightly, took command in the last sixteenth and was not in serious danger of being headed by RIVER GATE. The latter was outrun to the stretch, but finished strongly on the inside. ROMAN SENATOR saved ground on the stretch turn, but faltered near the end. PRINCE ERIC finished fairly well.
