WILLIAM MORTON was badly outrun for six furlongs, then improved his position steadily and, forging to the front of IM FRED after entering the last sixteenth, was hustled along to hold FLOATING CLOWN. The latter dropped far back of the pace in the early running and lost ground in the stretch, but finished fastest of all. IM FRED headed the field after entering the stretch, but clearly was not good enough for the first pair. JANES GAL made a .flattering move in the middle of the track an eighth out, but failed to carry through. KILLIMOR and CLOUDY DAY were used up fighting for domination in the first mile. SWEET KATH IE was badly outrun. Overweight— Floating Clown, 2 pounds; Janes Gal,. 3 J. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES turf course. Happy C, June 11, 1949-1:43-6-117.
