SUSANS PET, outrun for the first half mile, circled her field while rallying on the second turn to wear down, the leaders with a rush entering the stretch and was all out to hold LORD NORTH safe. The latter, held in reserve early, raced on the outside much of the way and held on fairly well after getting the lead momentarily on the stretch turn. MYSTIC GOLD found his best stride too late. MIDNIGHT QUEEN made up some ground in the late stages. LOW SKY was well placed, but lacked a closing rally. MOFLAME was never a contender. TUNESMITH, far back to the second turn, rallied from the extreme outside and, under strong, handling, wore down FINCHHAVEN in the closing strides. The latter, held in reserve to the second turn, was sent up on the outside to wrest a clear lead entering the stretch, but was not quite good enough. WHISK-OFF was used up in vying for the early lead. ARMED BANDIT raced slightly wide early and flattened out when set down for the final drive. MISS QUIBBLER was void of early speed.
