Calif. Senate CommitteeTables Bill to Increase Mutuel Tax SACRAMENT.O, Calif., June 3.— The Senate Governmental Efficiency Committee yesterday tabled a bill that would have raised the take on pari-mutuel wagering from 13 cents to 14 cents of each dollar wagered, at California race tracks. The bill, one of many designed by Gov. Goodwin Knight to increase the states revenue passed the Assembly but was killed by the committee. Committee chairman Harry L. Parkman, Republican of San Mateo, expressed belief that racing is already contributing substantially to the states coffers. The bill was then doomed when Senator Hugh M. Burns, Democrat of Fresno, moved that the proposed legislation be tabled.
