RUN was in close pursuit of the pace from the start, took command when called upon and, drifting out in the la£e stages, held DEE KAY safe. The latter broke flatfooted, drove between horses entering the turn, came through on the inside when gaining best stride and closed resolutely. A claim of foul against DEE KAY by the rider of CONCITING was not allowed. The latter was- sluggish early, took up when caught in close quarters on the rail at the three-furlong post and closed well. ARIELS FIRST had speed until the stretch and faltered. FOND DREAM had no mishap. MELS DELIGHT showed little. MISS GOODIE tired, as did ROBBYS MISS. VERONIKAS had early speed and gave way badly. The latter went into a clear lead along the backstretch and held on stubbornly but could not resist the top one. BOOGIE WATCH was slow to gain best stride. FIREY ADEL found room on the inside to threaten boldly and was not good enough. SHERIFF BRACEY was within striking distance and lacked a closing rally. DADDYS DOG tired after making the pace until the stretch MEKTOUB also tired after pressing the pace until midstretch. KING DICK had no excuse. EXCEL was always far back.
