j Lucri-Causa Savages Pima At Finish of Fonner Park Race FONNER PARK, Grand Island, Nebr., May 5. — It has often been said that "There are a thousand and one ways to lose a horse race, but only one way to win." We are not quite sure what the other thousand are, but number one thousand and one most assuredly must have been the way Lucri Causa chose to lose a decision to Pima in Saturdays sixth race at Fonner Park. Jockey Joe Sherman forced George Burrows Lucri-Causa even with the presetting Pima, just 70 yards from the end of that race. From there the pair raced as a team with Lucri-Causa gaining a very slight lead just before they hit the wire, but in the next instant the Burrows gelding turned his head to grab Pima by the jaw and bridle to write "way" number one thousand and one into the records books for a horse to get beat in a horse race. The incident brought much discussion in the stewards stand. Many stories could be told of one horse "savaging" another during a race, but none could recall when the unusual occurrence happened just as the photo finish cameras were recording the finish of a race.
