Seeley Kilpatricks Mr. Fantastic, a four-year-old homebred gelding, the get of With Pleasure and Blue Heddas, drove to a popular victory in the Cherokee Purse here this delightful afternoon before a post-Derby crowd of more than 8,500 spectators. Hard ridden through the stretch by Roberto Gonzales, the winner reached the finish of the six furlongs with a length advantage over his nearest rival. T. Alie Grissoms Betsy T. Rebel Stables Super Devil closed extremely fast during the drive to earn the show, a length and three-quarters back of Betsy T and a neck before Elias Brothers* Obnoxious, fourth in the field of eight Cherokee Purse starters. Mr. Fantastic, who was making his first appearance here after finishing second in an overnight race at Keeneland. carried 113 pounds over the fast track in 1:1143. He was favored in the wagering at even money. . Ralph Lowes Blen/ie. a homebred daughter of Blentio and Queen Kizzie. graduated from the maiden ranks, defeat- i ing 11 youngsters in the four and one-half furlongs Dreamer Purse. Much the best of her rivals. Blenzie. ridden by long-geared Johnny Delahoussaye was forced wide during the stretch by Cedar Valley Farms Mr. Crack, whose riders saddle ..lipped at that point. Delahoussaye Resorts to Whip Delahoussaye straightened Blenzie up iiuickly and, resorting to his whip, had the .owe filly on her way for a length victory over Walmas Farms hard-charging Waged jnd Won. Three lengths away. Mrs. Harry Trotseks Anointeth earned the minor award, while William H. Veenemans Phar in Front salvaged fourth money. Blenzie, making her second appearance under silks, completed the winning trip in :55%. The Lowe miss was a 41-to-10 chance. T. Alie Grissoms Queensware, with Johnny Ralph Adams at the reinsT scored a front-running accounting in the six-furlong fifth, which matched eight useful platers. The five-year-old Brief Sigh-sired mare took command at the break and swept under the wire with a half length advantage over her nearest rival, Raleigh Dees All at Once. Arbywood Stables Noble Warrior, who duelled with Queensware through the initial four furlongs, ran third, three and one -half lengths back of the lapped leaders and a half length on Estate of Sam E. Wilson Jr.s Challa Boy. Queensware. a Keeneland winner, raced i the three-quarters mile in l:12,/s. She was well supported, her backers receiving 29 to 10. The Grissom stable, jockey Adams, and trainer Vester R. Wright, figured in a double success, when the Detroit-owned Know All trimmed six shifty rivals in the three-quarters mile sixth. Know All, like Queensware. tcok over at the start and reached 1 the fiftish with two and one-half lengths to spare over Buddah Stables Ahead OTime. John H. Homans Jeffrey J. S. was along for third, a half length away. Know All, making his 1957 debut, returned 41 to 10 after stepping the sprint distance in 1:11%. Apprentice Dick Parrott, of nearby Bue-chel, Ky., handled the winners in the Daily Double events. Young Parrott hustled H. Weiler Jr.s Brau Imp to a length and one-quarter verdict in the one mile and one-sixteenth opener; then came back for an easy five and one -half lengths victory on Kenneth Burkharts Lady Jonage in the four and one -half furlongs second. , Brau Imp, a 10-to-5 shot to defeat eight fillies and mares, and Lady Jonage, better than 17-to-l straight, against a capacity field of two-year-olds, combined for a 34.60 Daily Double pay-off.
