TELLARIAN, taken in hand at the start, saved ground steadily improving his position through the backstretch, then came outside the leaders for the stretch run and continued willingly under hand urging to take command and drew away through the final furlong. IMPROMPTU was lightly urged pressing the pace, reached the front on the final turn and held on well to best BES0MER. The latter, reserved within striking distance, was roused on the final turn and loomed boldly but hung GRAY PHANTOM raced evenly to the stretcbrand tired. WAR PIPER was outdistanced early. FABIUS was allowed to race a trifle wide and tired after a half mile.
