Meaux Unhurt in Work Spill SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 6. — Clarence Meaux, one of the leading: jockeys at this meeting, narrowly escaped serious injury this morning, when he was thrown by the two-year-old Deversoir during a workout at nearby Hawthorne. The colt suddenly bolted to the gap along the backstretch and Meaux lost his seat. In falling, one of the horses hooves caught Meaux heavy jacket and almost ripped it from his back. The boy was stunned for a moment or two, but shook it off and continued with his mornings chores.
