IRON LIEGE, away alertly, saved ground while racing nearest FEDERAL HILL to the mile, took command during the drive and, responding to strong handling, held GALLANT MAN safe but won with little left. GALLANT MAN. in hand and saving ground to the last three-eighths mile, moved up determinedly in the early stretch, reached the lead betweeen calls and was going stoutly when his rider misjudged the finish and he could not overtake IRON LIEGE when back on stride. ROUND TABLE, well placed and racing evenly to the stretch, closed willingly under punishment but could not reach the leaders. BOLD RULER, a sharp factor from the outset but racing well out in the track, failed to stay when set down through the stretch. FEDERAL HILL took command at once, set the pace until inside the stretch, then gave way when challenged by IRON LIEGE. INDIAN CREEK was never prominent and had no mishap. EZGO, for-wardly placed from the start, raced HERE COME JOE into defeat and settled for the drive with a short lead but QQild not withstand the top one. PRINCE KILLER lacked early speed but finished fast when sent between horses through the stretch. HERE COME JOE began fast, set the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened. DIXIE DOGE lacked early foot and failed to respond when set down in the drive. AURECOLT tired during the stretch run. ROYAL MICHE had early speed but failed to stay. LARNED BOY showed nothi lg. ENCONO. never far back and well ridden, took command between calls during the drive, then hung and was unable to withstand IRISH SEA. MISS QUESTUARY raced well until inside the stretch but faltered when Hearing the finish. JACALU failed to rally when set down for the drive. FUN FOR TWO began fast but dropped back immediately after the start and could not reach serious contention thereafter. DARK THEATRE had no mishap. GOLDEN PRINCE was through early.
