BROOMMAKER remained in hand behind the leader until entering the stretch, rallied strongly to the leader from the outside and, after gaining command, drew clear at the wire. DARK GAZELLE was allowed to draw off on the turn but could not cope with the winner in the last sixteenth. JEAN BLAIR had no late response while proving best of the others. COTSWOLD raced in nearest pursuit of the winner throughout and, saving ground, closed willingly without having necessary response. HI-SCOT made up some ground in the last eighth. COLONEL DREW steadily improved position and finished along the inside with gocd energy. RUSH BOUND failed to seriously threaten. DICTION weakened under pressure. TAP DANCER turned in a dull effort. PRINCE BEL BEAU quickly drew off from ILLUMINATE leaving the far turn and needed only mild urging in the drive. ILLUMINATE held a slight lead after the start while along the inside, dropped back on the turn, then could not menace under pressure. DEEP STUDY raced along the inner rail and had to be taken up slightly in the midstretch when racing green. MIGHTY BULL could not make up any appreciable ground in the drive. "WING AGAIN, unhyrried while never too far back, * -allied on the outside midway on the final turn and, in a long drive, outfinished ZOLT. The latter moved slightly behind the winner while inside that rival, ducked in suddenly in the midstretch and just missed. CHALLEFONT lacked the necessary response when put to pressure. SEVEN OHEARTS, formidable from the start, gained command after four and one-half furlongs but weakened in the last eighth. KISER KING dropped back after setting the early pace, rallied into the stretch, then could not stay. LORD RUSH was rushed up along the mside to reach the lead before a half mi1?, dropped brck quickly on the final turn, then, was in close quarters along the inside in the last sixteenth. EXPLANATION rushed to the leader from the inside entering the stretch and, after gaining command in midstretch and drawing clear, was able to withstand the late bid of BORDER SON. The latter, along the inside in the *un down the backstretch, could not untrack himself, was taken to the outside entering the stretch and then closed with a sharp burst of speed. BROOKVILLE widened advantage going to the far turn but had little left when challenged by the winner and faltered* in the late yards.
