AMUSE moved up fast approaching the stretch, took command when settled for the drive and, swerving under punishment, won going away, RANDYrS H., a sharp factor from the start, reached the lead after disposing of INVITE, was tiring when bothered slightly by AMUSE during the stretch run and could not stay with the latter, although easily besting the others. ARAWAY made a good bid entering the stretch but could not better her position whenset down in the drive. A.D0RMIDERA lacked early foot. WITH FLASH was through early. LOW CUThad brief speed. BON-RU-MAR, in hand to the stretch, saved ground at the final turn and, closing fast between horses, wore down BATTLE OVER in the last sixteenth. BATTLE OVER, a sharp factor from the start, took a clear lead when settled into the stretch and held on willingly but was. not good enough for the top one. NO RETURN raved evenly to the last three-eights mile and then finished determinedly in the middle of the track, but could not overtake the leaders. GAME CHANCE raced well the entire trip and had no excuse. PELAGUS lacked early foot and could not get to the leaders when set down through the stretch. INDIAN SMOKE failed to respond when set down for the drive. ICEBREAKER began fast, set the pace until challenged by BATTLE-OVER and then failed to stay HUGO YOU GO tired after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. FITZ-JAMES had early speed. KAW MAID* showed nothing. LEA RONDI was never a serious contender. BOOTLET began slowly. CHESNUT KING was through early. HALF MINUTE began poorly. WAR PLUME, outrun to the stretch, finished strongly under brisk handling but could not threaten the winner. MARY LAWLER, reserved but saving ground to the stretch, closed fairly well under punishment. DO DOIT made a bold bid in the early stretch and then tired. NATIVE PORT raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. DEVON DAY began slowly and was nevera serious threat. QUORUM moved up fast after the break, reached the lead inside the final furlong and then weakened. PROPELLANT began alertly but disliked the sloppy track and failed to stay. EGOTISTICAL raced evenly and had no mishap. PERTSHIRE could not keep up. ROYAL HAVEN, shuffled back soon after the start, failed to recover. NATIVE SON, a keen factor from the start, raced with RAIN KING until inside the stretch, responded to strong handling during t,he final furlong and, taking command, won going away. RAIN KING took an early lead, set the pace until well inside the stretch, but was unable to hold the winner. LEONARDIAN began fast and then dropped back and raced evenly in a good performance. FRENCH ACE lacked early foot but finished strongly under brisk urging. BLACK FROST had no mishap. ROS-NUALA disliked the sloppy track and was never a serious contender.
