BEAU FOND lost ground outside three rivals racing abreast on the first turn, gradually raced into command after settling into the backstretch and continued along evenly despite being forced slightly wide by BOMB BOO. He shook off that rival when put to pressure to meet the challenge from CEDRUS rounding the far turn and, after regaining command entering the stretch, was steadily handled in confident manner while clearly best. CEDRUS broke with the field but could not keep up early, as usual. He was under steady pressure to make up ground and rushed forwardly through a large opening inside of BOMB BOO at the far turn to take a brief lead, bul he had then already made his run and was doing his best lo hold on evenly through the stretch. COMBUSTION II. was outrun early, despite pressure, saved ground and tired after six furlongs. BOMB BOO "raced cn the inside vying for the early lead, drifted out through the backstretch and was done after five furlongs. TINO BETTS sprinted inlo the lead racing into the - first turn, was lightly rated setting the pace and lasted over WE WONDER. The latter feegan picking up horses down the backstretch, moved around horses on the turn but could not get .to the winner. TEAS B. found room along the inner rail while rallying on the turn but could not gain in the stretch. JAYLPEE, JR. was forced between horses while making his move on the turn and weakened slightly.
