Two New Groups Interested In Buying Wheeling Downs FAIRMONT, W. Va., June 26.— Attorney Alfred M. Neely said today he has been contacted by two groups indicating an interest in submitting an upset bid for the purchase of Wheeling Downs Race track at Wheeling, W. Va., Neely said a syndicate, which he did not identify, asked him for information concerning the track, which the government is selling to satisfy part of a ,280,000 in- come tax claim against principal owner William G. "Big Bill" Lias. A hearing was scheduled for Friday at Wheeling by Federal Judge Harry E. Wat-kins to decide on a high bid of ,780,000 by Hazel Park Racing Association of Detroit. The minimum established by Watkins to upset the Hazel Park bid as ,958,000, or 10 per cent higher. Bay State Raceway, Inc., of Boston also has indicated It will submit an upset bid.
