Club Club American American Oal Oaks mtffswy-1 In The Blue Grass By Hugh J. McGuire Week-End Results Gratifying to Breeders DuaneCox Buys Three Horses for Export Dr. Eslie Asbury Pens Note From England LEXINGTON, Ky., June 26. — Even though Claibornes Bayou lost a close decision in the Coaching Club Club American American Oal Oaks les last last Saturday, Saturday, _ the the feature feature races races les last last Saturday, Saturday, _ the the feature feature races races that day on several tracks brought results that were very gratifying to many Blue Gass breeders. While missing out in the head-liner at Belmont, Kentucky breeders were very much in the limelight on the days card. Henry H. Knight, of Almahurst Farm, bred the winners of the first two races, the late Howard Wells bred the winner of the third race. Green- tree Stud was the breeder of the winners winners of of thft the fourth fourth "and "and fifth fifth mtffswy-1 winners winners of of thft the fourth fourth "and "and fifth fifth races and John Galbreath,~of Darby Dan Farm, supplied the winner of the eighth race in his homebred Land OPeace who, incidentally, is from Teherany, a daughter of Majideh, dam of Gallant Man. At Monmouth Park Miss Erlen won the Regret Handicap. This daughter of Dixianas Spy Song was bred by the Crown Crest Farm of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Reineman. At Arlington Park, Hasty House Farms Myrtlewood Handicap winner Sea O Erin, was bred by Miss Mildred Woolwine of White Oaks Farm. Leslie Combs II., of Spendthrift Farm, had a sentimental interest in this race as the mares in the Myrtlewood family are foundation matrons at Spendthrift. Combs, , also stood the now dead Shannon II., sire of Sea O Erin. Bolero U Continues Rapid Pace At Delaware Park, Calumets Princess Turia was winner of the New Castle while Bolero U. won the Dover Stakes. Bolero U was bred by Clarence Hartwick and is by the Stallion Stations Bolero. At ThistleDown, Louis Lee Haggin II.s homebred Maneau captured the Ohio Derby. Manteau is by Citation. It was-quite a day. An interesting visitor to this area was Duane Cox of the Elmhurst Construction Company of Ciudad Trujillo, Dominican Republic. This is an American construction company whose president, James Hagan; is taking an active part in bringing racing and breeding stock to the country as part of a policy to improve agricultural resources there. While here, Cox purchased through the Cromwell Bloodstock Agency a two-year-Qld filly and two yearling colts for expert. The filly is Ornith, by Faultless — Sunny Flight, by Sun Again. This purchase was made from Calumet and Sunny Flight is a half sister to Citation. The yearlings were purchased from Danada Farm. One colt is by Hill Prince — Sunny Liege, by Heliopolis, and is the first foal of his young dam. The other yearling is by Pet Bully — Satin Flower, by Sun Again, and is of the immediate family of Vagrancy, Hypnotic and Valkyr. He is also a first foal. Stock- of this type 1 cannot fail to have a favorable effect on racing and breeding in the southern republic. We do not believe it will be a violation of confidence-to reveal the information received on an air-mail post card from Dr. Eslie Asbury mailed in England. It said: "Went to Royal Ascot today. Wonderful racing; Saw best two-year-old in England win Coventry Stakes. Amerigo, by Nearco. Top prospect for next years classics. Mrs. E. Gershams Tempest, by Court Martial 4th in Derby lost St. James Palace Stakes by a head to phevastrid, by Prince Chevalier, half brother to Panaslipper. Mrs. John Hanes Fairy Storie three-year-old filly by Court Martial lost Queen Anne Stakes by neck. Good* race. . Saw European Stars at Newmarket "Accompanied by F. Schaible, we were only Americans except John Fortune Ryan. Last Saturday went to Newmarket. Saw Ribot, HypeVion, Crepello, Darius, etc. Also dams of Ribot, Crepello. Saw Hyperion, 27 and bred to 10 mares. All in foal, very alert, good j condition." All of which seemed to us to be a quite complete report to get on one post card. Dr. Asbury ! was making a hurried 10-day visit and will probably be home by the time this reaches prints He has seyen top colts and one filly in the Keeneland summer sales and will enjoy his thoroughbreds nearer to home until sales time. Blades of Blue Grass: The coming appearance of Humphrey Finney and Bill Evans on the program of the Thoroughbred Club on July 2 is creating considerable advance interest. The heads of the two major thoroughbred sales companies will take part in an open forum. . . . Howard Reineman and son Robert returned to Crown Crest Farm from a Wisconsin fishing trip. . . . Catalogs for the Keeneland sales are in the mail. . . . Bwamazon Farms consignment of 10 yearlings to the Saratoga sales includes a filly by Princequillo — Judy Rae. This half sister to Judy Rullah is from the family of Swaps, Iron Maiden, Trentonian, . Clyde Van Dusen and more of that class This entire community was shocked over the tragedy by lightning that befell Professor A. B. McEwen and Paul Ebelhardt.
