Frank E. Red7 Leatherbury, Alabama Owner, Dies in Mobile JAMAICA, L. I.. N. Y., April 30.— Horsemen here were saddened by reports from Mobile, Ala., of the death last night of Frank E. "Red" Leatherbury, 55, who maintained the Clearwater Stable in partnership with A. E. Roberts. Leatherbury succumbed following surgery for a brain tumor. He headed the Waterman Steamship Co., of Mobile. Prior to the formation of Clearwater Stable, which was best known for the exploits of Portersville, winner of the Carter and Brooklyn Handicaps in 1957, Leatherbury had been a partner in the Harborvale Stable, which raced Royal Coinage. A brilliant two-year-old. Royal Coinage is now a successful young sire. . Al J. Pupino, trainer of the Clearwater Stable, flew to Mobile this afternoon to attend the funeral, time and place of which had not yet been determined.
