Chistosa Flashes High Speed in Prep For Bed o Roses Renewal on Saturday Whirls 5 Panels in :597/5; J Mile. Dianne and Meticulous j Also Work for Jamaica Test By COSTY CARAS Staff Correspondent JAMAICA, L. L, N. Y., April 30.— King Ranchs Chistosa, in the Bed o Roses Handicap with a featherweight of 105, displayed high speed during her five-panel drill in :5#% down the backstretch on the fast Belmont Park main track. Chistosa, coming up to Saturdays stake in excellent fettle, finished second to Brookmeade Stables Big Effort in the Next Move handicap, and should benefit from that race. H. H. Polkt, Mile. Dianne traveled a half mile over the Jamaica surface in :48 handily. She will start in the Bed o Roses. Mile. Dianne annexed the Farmerette Handicap last week, covering the three-quarters of a mile distance in 1:11%. The Polk filly has demonstrated a definite liking for the local strip. Alvin Handmachers Meticulous, who finished second to Mile. Dianne in the Farmerette, and may have been getting to the winner with her late burst of run in that fixture, trained 4 furlongs over the muddy Belmont training strip in :51%. Trainer Eddie Neloy, who has been enjoying a highly successful meet, voiced the opinion that his racer will benefit from the one 1 1-16 miles distance of Saturdays feature. Racing secretary Frank E. "Jimmy" Kilroe has assigned 117 to Mile. Dianne and 114 to Meticulous. Wheatley Stables Misty Flight worked impressively at Belmont, posting 1:40% for a mile jaunt after moving in fractions of :48 for the half and negotiating the three quarters distance in 1:13%. Greentree Stables Pop Corn completed IVb miles in 1:55 while James E. OConnells Cavan breezed a mile easily in 1:49. Alfred G. Vanderbilts Village Idiot worked a useful 5 panels in 1:03% while Maine Chance Farms Jewels Reward covered a like distance in 1:02%. Pebblebrook Farms Tufanhai, who scored an impressive five-panel maiden win here, stepped 5 furlongs in 1:03 breezing. Tufanhai, will next be seen in the 5,000 added Comely Stakes here next Wednesday. Harris Browns Made Out continued to train well for his return to the races, and drilled a mile in 1:43, handily. On the Jamaica track, Merrick Stables Wing Jet worked 6 furlongs from the gate in 1:14% while Piarulli and Brunettis Vertex looked like a tiger completing a half mile in :49, breezing. Vertex will be seen here in the 5,000 added Grey Lag Handicap on Saturday, May 9.
