Attorney to Advise Florida Board Can O.K. Night Dates MIAMI, Fla., April 30.— George Gil-liland, attorney for the Florida Racing Commission, today announced he will advise the commissioners they have the power to allocate night racing dates to Tropical Park. "In my opinion the commission has broad powers under the law to supervise every phase of racing," Gilliland said. "Therefore, when the law does not specifically spell out any exceptions, the commission, under my interpretation of the law, has complete authority to act." The commission will meet hefe Monday to consider Tropicals bid for 43 nights of flat horse competition starting Thanksgiving Day. No flat track previously had asked the commission for a night schedule. Gillilands announcement confirmed the opinion advanced by Worley, Gau-tier and Dawes — Tropicals law firm — that the commission can approve night racing at the local course if it so desires.
