iPANCOAST IN A HARD DRIVE Six-Year-Old in Initial Victory of Quebec Season Lady Kiluna, an Added Starter, Second. MONTREAL, Que., Oct 6. Pancoast, six-year-old gelded son of Noah Little Sister racing for O. Viau, accounted for his first victory of the Quebec season when he drove to the finish half a length in advance of G. L. Harris Lady Kiluna, which was an added starter, at the end of the five and one-half furlongs St. Lambert Purse, feature of the ninth day of the Back River Jockey Clubs fourteen-day meeting. G. Foisys good home-bred Logwood was in third place, a neck back, and two and one-half lengths before W. C. Morris Judge Primrose. Penang and Clasp made up the balance of the six-horse field and finished as named. Milder weather and a fast racing strip brought out a large attendance, and spirited contests and close finishes resulted. Starter Richey dispatched the field at once in the feature, and Clasp, having the speed, raced away in close attendance of Judge Primrose, with Lady Kiluna in third place, while Moore held Pancoast in restraint in fourth place. They raced in this order for three furlongs and, rounding the turn into the stretch. Clasp was through and Lady Kiluna took up the pacemaking. Meanwhile Moore was improving his position with Pancoast and moved into third place. In the drive to the finish Moore sent Pancoast out and, closing with a rush, wore down the leading Lady Kiluna and had a half length margin at the end. Logwood meanwhile had advanced steadily and was in close attendance at the finish. This marked a double for trainer Viau, as he had saddled Stone Chatter in the opener.
