CONDITIONS FAVOR PERLETTE Parrish Colorbearer Finds Sloppy Track to Her Liking. Finishes Four Lengths in Advance of Bernard F., the Favorite-Tay Bee Js:y Best In Fourth. CINCINNATI, Ohio, Oct. 6. Perlette, mud-running daughter of Percentage Escarpo-lette which races for J. W. Parrish, Midway, Ky., banker, gave warning that in the event of an adverse track for Saturdays ,500 added Queen City Handicap, she would be a strong factor, when she accounted for the George Olsen Handicap, feature of a well-balanced program at River Downs this afternoon. I. J. Collins Bernard F., winner of two stakes at Detroit, was second, four lengths back, and the same distance before C. B. Mears Crulia, which experienced little trouble in.accounting for the minor award. Eight topnotch juveniles, most of which are eligible for the week-end feature, started, with Wise Beauty saving fourth place from Smart Agnes, Little Empress, Alklt and Hicena, which finished as named. Under 109 pounds and ridden by the veteran Harry Louman, the winner ran the distance over a sloppy track in the creditable time of 1:15. Bernard F. was the top weight under 113 pounds, and Crulia was next, with 110. Despite a torrential rain in the city and a hard rain at the track at noon, a surprisingly large crowd was present As was to be expected the change in track conditions was the cause of upsets. WINS UNDER RESTRAINT. Although Wise Beauty, from her outside position, was the. first in motion, Louman soon had the winner in the van. However, Wise Beauty and Little Empress raced with her to the turn and Perlette did not draw clear until nearing the final three furlongs. Increasing her advantage steadily, Perlette came-, to the stretch with a five lengths advantage and Louman had her under restraint at the end. At the far turn Little Empress and Smart Agnes were pinched back and they failed to recover, but Bernard F., which -was forced to race on the outside, picked up the faltering leaders in rapid style and, although he did not menace the winner, he was much the best of the others. The first camera finish and popular score came with the fourth race, also at six furlongs and for two-year-olds, when Jay Bee Jay, from the Detroit-owned Oddesa Farm Staple, beat Makus by a nose. Trauwina was third, some four lengths back of the leading pair and three lengths before Gabriel. Eight youngsters of the better grade-claiming type started with Dark Revue, Makus and Macawlee racing head and head to the far turn. Disposing of them soon afterwards, Makus drew away to a big advantage, but Tyrus Meloche sent the winner through on the inside and, responding to the lads strong urging, the son of Upset forged to the front However. Makus held on in strong fashion, and the picture was required to separate them. Trauwina came from far back to take minor honors, while Macawlee was pulled up after a half mile. i
