EPSOM DOWNS TURF NOTES Q . $ The filly Golden Crystal, which had a leader severed when jumped on in her last start, is recovering rapidly according to T. B. Miller, who is training the racer for H. C. Rumage. If Golden Crystal continues to improve Miller is confident that the filly will be ready for racing at Arlington Downs. Ten thoroughbreds, the property of the Blue Moon Stable, arrived from Detroit Sunday night in good condition and went into quarters at Epsom Downs to be prepared for a Texas fall campaign. The consignment came in charge of trainer M. Lally. The committee appointed to serve for the celebration of Shrine Day at Epsom Downs, which is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, was announced today and includes W. J. Wingate, Dr. A. T. Dcvall, Harry B. Jewett, John Draper and W. C. Sisson. The thirty-piece Shriners Band will be present to provide music during the afternoon. Jack Londons condition was greatly improved, and he was permitted to leave the hospital, where he has been confined for a few days, due to a severe cold. He put in his appearance at Epsom Downs Tuesday afternoon to view the races. Lee Wyant was an arrival with Polite Sis and Black Tot, both three-year-olds, which he is conditioning for Henderson and Henderson. Charles Houbre, veteran New Orleans turfman, who is training a division of the Howard Oots stable at Epsom Downs, expects to have several additional thoroughbreds for winter racing. It is likely that a few will be sent to Houbre before the main division goes into winter quarters.
